Bulgaria has announced that it is prepared to allow an aircraft carrying Russian President Vladimir Putin to fly through its airspace in order to facilitate a planned meeting between Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump in Budapest later this month.
The statement was made by Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev, who emphasized the importance of supporting any initiative aimed at achieving peace.
“When efforts are being made to reach peace, if the condition for that is to hold such a meeting, it is very logical that this meeting should be facilitated in every possible way,” Georgiev said.
He added that it would be impossible to hold the meeting if one of the participants could not attend due to airspace restrictions.
The planned Putin–Trump meeting in Budapest has drawn significant international attention, as it is expected to address ongoing global security and diplomatic tensions between Russia and the West.
