Although currently under control, the situation in the municipality of Malishevë continues to be severe following heavy rainfall, prompting the evacuation of six families from their homes.

Artan Paçarizi, the spokesperson for the Municipality of Malishevë, told Ekonomia Online that the risk remains as rain continues.

“The current situation can be described as serious in Malishevë. It is manageable and under control, but still severe due to the rainfall and the overflowing of the Mirusha River, which caused many roads to remain blocked or difficult to navigate for most of the day. Currently, the situation is calm, but in the last two hours, rainfall has resumed and water levels may rise again. Throughout the day, interventions were carried out where water entered homes, businesses, and other properties. Six families were evacuated from their homes, and thankfully, no one was injured or in danger,” he said.

Paçarizi also identified the most vulnerable areas.

“Villages along Bellanicë, Thanë, Malishevë, Mirusha, Lubishtë, Domanek, and Bubel are at highest risk, along with other villages in low-lying areas such as Buballec, Drenoc, and Dragobil. However, the situation in these areas has remained manageable,” he explained.

Regarding the flooding of the local parking area, Paçarizi noted that the rise in the Mirusha River caused the problem.

“The rise in the Mirusha River caused flooding in the parking area because the water drainage goes into the river. With the water level now dropping, the water in the parking area has decreased by more than half a meter. We expect all the water to recede within the next two to three hours,” he said.
