NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte confirmed that he spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the situation in Greenland and the Arctic region.
Following the discussion, Rutte posted on X: “We will continue to work on this and I look forward to seeing him in Davos later this week.”
The meeting comes ahead of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where Trump, along with leaders from France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Finland, is scheduled to attend, according to the BBC.
The discussion follows heightened tensions over U.S. threats of tariffs against European nations that deployed troops to Greenland, a move aimed at supporting Denmark and NATO’s Arctic presence.
