Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to travel to Washington on Wednesday for a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, where discussions will primarily focus on ongoing negotiations with Iran, according to Netanyahu’s office.
The meeting comes shortly after indirect nuclear talks between Iranian and American officials held last Friday in Muscat, Oman. Both sides confirmed that additional rounds of negotiations are expected to take place soon, signaling continued diplomatic engagement over Tehran’s nuclear program.
According to Reuters, a regional diplomat familiar with Tehran’s position stated that Iran has insisted on maintaining its right to enrich uranium during negotiations with the United States. However, Iran’s missile capabilities have reportedly not been included in the current discussions. Iranian officials have firmly rejected the possibility of placing their missile program — considered one of the largest arsenals in the region — on the negotiation agenda, emphasizing that their priority remains international recognition of their uranium enrichment rights.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu’s office stressed Israel’s firm stance on the issue. In an official statement, it said that the Israeli Prime Minister believes any agreement with Iran must include strict limitations on Tehran’s ballistic missile program and an end to its support for allied militant groups across the Middle East.
The upcoming meeting between Netanyahu and Trump is expected to highlight growing international concern over Iran’s military and nuclear activities, as well as broader regional security dynamics.
