Political analyst Dušan Janjić sharply criticized the way Serbian authorities have handled Kosovo since 2000, calling their approach amateurish and self-serving. Speaking on the show “Bez pardona”, Janjić argued that many officials treat Kosovo as a personal playground or “treasure trove” for plundering rather than a complex political and diplomatic issue.

“These are people without prior experience, dealing with Kosovo as if it’s a treasure to loot or a stage for personal promotion. They beat their chests but are never pragmatic,” Janjić said.

He described Kosovo as a source of “drama and trauma” for Serbia, saying: “You handed over Kosovo! I don’t like the word betrayal, but that’s what it is.”

Janjić criticized Serbian authorities’ lack of understanding of international diplomacy, pointing to examples like the Washington Agreement, in which Israel recognized Kosovo, and Kosovo’s engagement with Trump’s Board of Peace. He contrasted the competent, effective diplomacy of Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani, who engaged with Trump, with the incompetence of Serbian representatives, whom he called “Đurići and Murići,” a sarcastic reference to officials he considers incapable.

On Serbia’s broader foreign policy and handling of Kosovo, Janjić concluded: “What kills us is incompetence. Knowledge is power, as students have said—but only if it is used for the good of society and individuals.”
