Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić made a surprise visit to the Homeland Fair at the Novi Sad Fairgrounds today.

Although no official visits—especially by the president—were listed in the event program, Vučić took the stage at around 10:00 AM. He delivered a five-minute speech before leaving the fair.

Lack of Media Notification

Local media outlets were not informed or invited to cover the president’s arrival.

During his brief speech, Vučić greeted attendees, giving special mention to the Krajišnici community:

“I should visit all the stands, but I won’t this time; I have to return to Belgrade. First of all, I want to thank you for everything you have done for Serbia over the past years. I know how hard it is to be without your homeland, but the hardest is to be without family and people. Serbia is your family and your people. When you see what is happening today in Croatia, it’s clear that this was the only way to survive,” he said.

After leaving, Vučić posted on Instagram that he had enjoyed a morning sandwich with SNS party president Miloš Vučević and his sons:

“Morning sandwich in Novi Sad with Miloš and his sons Danilo and Mihail. Now together among the Krajišnici at the fair,” Vučić wrote.

Organised Applause

According to fair staff, some attendees were brought in before 10:00 AM in an organised manner to applaud Vučić. They reportedly left shortly after his departure.

Local residents noted that within minutes, a large police presence blocked parts of the city, suggesting the arrival of a high-ranking official.

Previous Visits

Vučić had announced visits to Novi Sad on several occasions but had not appeared since a railway station incident in November 2024. While he has toured surrounding areas multiple times since then, he had not visited the city itself until today.
