Posters containing hostile messages targeting protesters and students have appeared across Novi Sad, referring to them as “blockaders” — a term frequently used by government officials to describe citizens and student groups who have been protesting for the past 14 months following the collapse of a canopy structure that resulted in 16 fatalities.
The posters carry the message: “Blockader terrorism is a disease! Let’s cure Serbia,” and display a crossed-out red hand symbol, which has become associated with demands for justice in Serbia.
Posters Appeared Across Multiple Areas
According to reports, the posters were seen early this morning in several parts of Novi Sad, including the city center, Detelinara, Novo Naselje, and the Pariske Komune neighborhood. The individuals or groups responsible for placing the posters have not been identified.
Timing Coincides With Vučić’s Visit
The appearance of the posters coincided with President Aleksandar Vučić’s first visit to Novi Sad since 2024. During his visit, Vučić delivered a brief speech at the Homeland Fair, was seen eating a sandwich near the fairgrounds, and later visited the Petrovaradin Fortress before returning to Belgrade.
The protests referenced in the posters stem from public outrage following the deadly infrastructure collapse, which has sparked ongoing demonstrations and broader criticism of authorities over accountability and safety standards.
