Around 85,000 citizens of Kosovo who have registered to vote by mail in the early parliamentary elections will receive voting packages at their registered addresses, announced the spokesperson of the Central Election Commission (Central Election Commission of Kosovo), Valmir Elezi, at a press conference.
He said the process of sending the packages “will begin within a few days.”
“In accordance with the obligations defined in Electoral Regulation No. 04/2025 on registration and voting outside Kosovo, the KQZ will ensure that Kosovo citizens registered for postal voting receive voting packages at their addresses through postal services. The dispatch process will begin within a few days, while it is the voter’s responsibility to return the package via post to the KQZ postal box address,” Elezi said.
The KQZ had also sent original ballot packages to registered voters in the local elections in October and the parliamentary elections in December.
Based on preliminary data, from the beginning of the process on May 6 until its conclusion on May 17, 2026, a total of 142,803 registration requests were received through the electronic platform. Of these, 109,696 have been approved so far, 7,325 were rejected, and 25,702 are still under review.
The most preferred voting method remains postal voting. Out of the approved applications, 81,901 citizens have registered to receive ballots at postal boxes abroad, 2,855 have opted for delivery to the KQZ postal box in Kosovo, and 24,940 have registered to vote in person at diplomatic missions.
According to the Law on General Elections, diaspora voting takes place earlier: postal voting is expected to begin on May 25 and end on June 6, while in-person voting at diplomatic missions is scheduled for June 6.
