The scale of wildfires in France has reached around 115,000 hectares of burned land this year, according to French Environment Minister Monique Barbut.
According to data released by authorities, this area is significantly larger than previously reported and represents a territory roughly 11 times larger than the city of Paris.
The minister warned that the situation could deteriorate further in the coming weeks, while French authorities have emphasized that the current figures represent a new annual record for wildfire damage.
French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez has also stated that the consequences are expected to be extremely serious by the end of the summer season.
One of the worst-affected areas is the Gironde region, where wildfires have previously destroyed around 42,000 hectares of forests and land, causing significant environmental damage.
