Albanian MP in the Serbian Parliament, Shaip Kamberi, has announced that he has proposed a draft resolution aimed at the institutional verification of crimes committed in Kosovo during the war.
Kamberi said that the initiative is based on the judgments of the Hague Tribunal and seeks to open a debate on the responsibility of Serbian institutions for war crimes.
According to him, recent statements by Serbian government officials, as well as the lack of an institutional response to them, are concerning and contribute to rising tensions in the region.
Speaking about the political situation in Serbia, Kamberi criticized the electoral process, stating that new elections cannot bring meaningful change without the establishment of new electoral conditions.
He assessed that the no-confidence motion against the Serbian government is being used as a political tool to divert attention from internal problems and to delay elections.
Kamberi also referred to the statement by Serbian Minister Snežana Paunović, who had spoken about the “ethnic cleansing” of Kosovo in 1998, calling for institutional accountability for such statements.
According to Kamberi, Serbia must confront its past and open the way for a new political approach that would contribute to regional stability and the process of European integration.
