Kosovo Assembly Speaker Albulena Haxhiu has called on lawmakers from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) to return to the chamber as the Assembly resumed its constitutive session on Friday.

The session, scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., resumed amid continued political tensions following PDK’s decision to leave the chamber during the previous sitting.

Addressing lawmakers, Haxhiu invited PDK MPs to return to the Assembly and participate in the proceedings.

She said she had attempted to meet with PDK representatives to discuss the session, but they had declined, informing her that they intend to refer the matter to the Constitutional Court.

Haxhiu’s appeal comes as the Assembly continues efforts to complete the process of constituting its leadership, with the election of deputy speakers remaining on the agenda.

The dispute follows the previous session, when PDK MPs walked out after their nominee, Vlora Çitaku, failed to secure the required support for election as deputy speaker.
