Residents of Ferizaj reported that during the night between Wednesday and Thursday they heard several detonations believed to be coming from the area around the Bondsteel military base.
Regarding the incident, KFOR stated that these were planned actions carried out as part of its regular operational activities.
“KFOR can confirm that the explosions heard were part of routine operational activities conducted by EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) teams. These activities are carried out regularly as part of KFOR’s ongoing mandate to ensure a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244.”
“Such operations also include training exercises, which are essential for maintaining the readiness and effectiveness of our forces,” the KFOR Public Information Office told Klan Kosova.
The peacekeeping mission also emphasized that it will continue to inform the public about its activities when necessary, in order to provide accurate and transparent information.
