Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti met with the Kosovo diaspora in Slovenia last night, accompanied by Kosovo’s Ambassador to Slovenia, Valdet Sadiku.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Kurti expressed his gratitude for the contributions of Kosovo nationals to Slovenian society and to their home countries, Kosovo and Albania. He emphasized the important role of the diaspora as an extraordinary economic, cultural, and trade bridge between Kosovo and Slovenia, two nations bound by historical ties.
He recalled Slovenia’s significant role in the 1980s and 1990s, particularly in providing refuge to persecuted Albanians, supporting Kosovo’s liberation, and its steadfast recognition of Kosovo’s independence and continued support on the international stage.
Kurti also discussed his government’s work, highlighting the accomplishments and policies during his nearly four years in office. He pointed out that his administration is the first to complete a full mandate, a testament to Kosovo’s institutional stability, which plays a crucial role in the country’s economic growth, democratic progress, and national security.
The Prime Minister encouraged the diaspora to continue their participation in Kosovo’s population registry, emphasizing the importance of declaring war damages and losses experienced during the last conflict. This is the first time Kosovo is registering such losses at the national level. Additionally, he urged the diaspora to register online for voting abroad, ensuring they can benefit from the new election law, which includes voting at embassies and consulates, as well as postal voting within Kosovo. The deadline for registration is December 26.
