In an exclusive interview with journalist Arben Berisha, Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani expressed her support and pride for Kosovar athletes representing the country at the “Paris 2024” Olympic Games.
The President highlighted the extraordinary sacrifice and dedication of the athletes and their coaches, who have worked tirelessly to reach this high level of competition.
“There is always an atmosphere of victory, rightfully so, because our athletes have worked extremely hard. All their preparation required a great sacrifice, demonstrated by each of them and their coaches. Now, naturally, a bit of luck is needed, and I am confident they will represent Kosovo with honor, raise our state’s flag high, and once again showcase the resilient and fighting spirit of our people,” the President said to RTK.
She also spoke about boxer Donjeta Sadiku, who starts her competition cycle for Kosovo tonight. “Donjeta has won numerous medals in various categories, and now at the Olympic Games, it is an extraordinary opportunity for her to prove herself, and I am confident she will excel,” Osmani added.
Speaking about her role as a supporter of the athletes and the fact that during the last Olympics in Tokyo, where she was present, Kosovar athletes won two Olympic medals, the President said, “I don’t think I bring them luck; their work brings them luck, but support is never lacking. We are here to give motivation and support to our athletes because they truly deserve it,” the head of state continued.
The President also praised the contribution of athletes in promoting Kosovo on the international stage. “Athletes have opened doors for Kosovo that politics has not been able to open, and through this, they have given the best message for the youth of Kosovo, for the state of Kosovo, for the stability of our country, and for this reason, they deserve every praise and support from every citizen of Kosovo,” Osmani emphasized.
President Osmani expressed her honor to be alongside other representatives from Kosovo to offer continuous support to the athletes. She stressed that the achieved results are the fruits of their hard work, sacrifice, and dedication, as well as that of their coaches.
