President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani stated in an interview with Deutsche Welle that she has seen reports indicating Serbia’s attempts to destabilize Kosovo during the spring of this year. She noted that many officials avoid discussing these developments publicly.
“Serbia had destabilization tendencies this spring, and with the help of our allies, we prevented them. Many do not want to publicly reveal what happened. I have read our institutional reports and know what Serbia aimed for,” Osmani said.
She emphasized that while she has the authority to declassify information, it is important not to hinder the work of Kosovo’s security institutions, which must continue gathering intelligence to prevent destabilizing actions.
Osmani recalled a November 2024 attack on Ibër Lepenc, aimed at destroying critical infrastructure supplying Kosovo with water, electricity, and heating, highlighting the use of hybrid tactics alongside traditional military methods.
Referring to past incidents, including the 2023 attempt by Serbia to carry out aggression in northern Kosovo, Osmani explained that paramilitary and terrorist groups were used in attempts to annex the region, aligned with Russian plans and methods.
“It is now clear that Serbia has this objective and continuously employs destabilizing tactics, not only against Kosovo but also against Bosnia and other countries in the region,” she said.
Osmani described Serbia as an aggressive state acting as an extension of Putin, aiming to destabilize the Balkans as a broader tool for destabilization across Europe.
