U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that Russia is actively seeking to end the war in Ukraine. Speaking at a press conference at the White House alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump emphasized that Moscow is making efforts to bring the conflict to a close.
“Before I came here, there was no communication with Russia, and they weren’t answering calls,” Trump told reporters. “One of the first calls I made after taking office was to [Vladimir] Putin, and it was very respectful. They want to end this war.”
Trump reiterated his commitment to stopping the war, whether through a ceasefire or a direct peace agreement. His remarks come amid intensified discussions on the future of Ukraine and the broader security landscape in Europe.
