Former Minister of Defence Pirro Vengu, through a post on Facebook, reacted to the latest protest held by Albanian students in North Macedonia on Monday. Vengu wrote that the Albanian students once again showed that “language does not require permission.”
He stressed that this time the protest also had even stronger support from students from Tirana as well as from Albanians everywhere. Vengu added that these peaceful protests are the voice of a fundamental right, far from tensions that, according to him, have no place in good neighbourly relations.
“The Albanian students in North Macedonia once again showed that ‘language does not ask for permission’. This time more numerous, more energetic, and with the support of students from Tirana and from all Albanians. Even when someone thinks they can stop students with bureaucratic obstacles, the energy of a just cause always finds its way.
A European example in the heart of Skopje of how peaceful and civic protest can become the voice of a fundamental right, far from tensions that have no place in the good neighbourliness we aspire to live in together. Right yesterday, right today, and stronger every day, until its victory. Always with you,” Vengu wrote.
