The administration of Donald Trump is seeking the immediate extradition of alleged Serbian drug boss Antun Mrdeža, following intelligence findings that link him to a major international cocaine trafficking route.

According to U.S. intelligence reports, Mrdeža allegedly reached an agreement with Colombian figure Giovanny Andrés Rojas, also known as “Araña,” to move cocaine through one of the world’s most significant drug corridors connecting Latin America with European markets.

Both men are now in custody in different countries. Rojas is being held in a high-security prison in Colombia, while Mrdeža has remained in detention in Venezuela since May 2025 after years on the run following a dramatic escape from Colombian custody.

The United States has formally requested the extradition of the two suspects, and the issue has now become part of high-level diplomatic negotiations involving several governments.

A key diplomatic meeting is expected between Colombian President Gustavo Petro and Venezuelan leader Delcy Rodríguez, where discussions are anticipated to include a potential mechanism for transferring Mrdeža from Venezuela to Colombia. This step could allow Washington to move forward with a formal extradition process.

Authorities believe Mrdeža is part of a transnational drug trafficking network that links cocaine producers in Latin America with distributors across Europe. Investigators say dismantling this network has become a priority for U.S. law enforcement and international partners.

The outcome of the negotiations could significantly influence regional security cooperation and the global fight against organized crime, as governments weigh legal, diplomatic, and security considerations surrounding the extradition request.
