EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos has urged political unity and compromise in Kosovo, stressing that institutional stability is essential for the country’s progress toward the European Union.
In a post on the U.S.-based social media platform X, Kos congratulated Albin Kurti on his election victory.
“For Kosovo to progress on its path toward the EU, political forces must now come together and find compromises to build institutional stability. I look forward to returning to Kosovo as soon as possible to accelerate work on Kosovo’s EU integration and to continue work on financing the Growth Plan,” Kos said.
According to preliminary results from the Central Election Commission (CEC), with 99.40% of votes counted, Vetëvendosje Movement came first with 42.92% of the vote. The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) ranked second with 21.06%, while the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) received 17.61%.
The statement comes amid ongoing discussions on coalition-building and institutional formation following the election results.
