Italian authorities have dismantled a major international drug trafficking link following a highly coordinated operation by the Guardia di Finanza. The major sting resulted in the seizure of over 111 kilograms of high-purity cocaine, which investigators estimate would have generated a staggering €20 million in street-value profits.

Three individuals, including at least one Albanian national, were arrested during the operation and are currently being held in a Parma detention facility.

The Undercover Sting: From Ancona to Parma

The operation was spearheaded by officers from the Provincial Command of Ancona, who had been tracking a suspicious vehicle traveling toward the outskirts of Parma.

Through close surveillance, investigators witnessed a highly coordinated hand-off in progress, leading directly to the massive discovery:

  • The Hand-off: Detectives observed the occupants of the suspect vehicle exchanging large, heavy duffel bags with the driver of a commercial transport truck.
  • The Hidden Compartment: Upon intercepting and searching the truck, officers uncovered a highly sophisticated, custom-built hidden compartment welded inside the truck’s cabin.
  • The Seizure: Inside the secret chamber, police recovered 100 heat-sealed packages containing a total of 111 kilograms of cocaine. Officers also confiscated approximately €19,000 in cash, suspected to be direct proceeds from illegal drug sales.

International Network Targeted

Under orders from the Parma Prosecutor’s Office, the truck driver and the two occupants of the passenger vehicle were immediately taken into custody. The suspects, identified as being of Albanian and Romanian origin, have been booked into the local Parma prison.

The Guardia di Finanza, in coordination with anti-mafia prosecutors, has extended the investigation to trace the broader supply chain. Investigators are working to identify the high-level organizers behind the shipment, focusing heavily on how the narcotics bypassed border security to enter northern Italy.
