The session for the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly has begun, with the sole item on the agenda being the election of the Assembly’s deputy speakers.
Deputies from the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) are attending the session.
According to a notice issued by the Kosovo Assembly, the election of the deputy speakers is scheduled to take place in the Assembly chamber, starting at 10:00 a.m.
The process of constituting the Kosovo Assembly stalled once again on September 11, after lawmakers failed to agree on the voting procedure for the five deputy speakers.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) accused the election-winning party of causing the deadlock, while the Vetëvendosje Movement said it could not vote for deputy speakers who oppose the party’s candidate for president of the country.
The session was postponed until Sunday, September 13, today.
Last night, following a meeting of its leadership, Vetëvendosje announced that it had decided to vote in today’s constitutive session for the PDK and LDK candidates, Vlora Çitaku and Kujtim Shala, for the positions of deputy speakers of the Assembly.
