Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has postponed making a decision on possible military actions that the Israeli army could take in Gaza if Hamas refuses a proposed ceasefire agreement, a source familiar with the matter told CNN on Friday.
According to this source, no final decision will be made this week, as internal disagreements continue within the Israeli government over the course of action in the enclave.
If Hamas rejects the deal, the source said Israel may move to encircle Gaza City and other populated centers, with the alternative option being a full-scale invasion.
“At the same time, Israel and the United States will work to increase humanitarian aid while continuing military operations in Gaza,” the official added.
Meanwhile, peace negotiations are stalling amid a catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where dozens of people are dying from hunger every day.
