U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to build a new luxury hall within the White House complex, with an estimated cost of $200 million.

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt made the announcement during a press conference, stating that the funding will come directly from President Trump himself and a group of undisclosed private donors.

“We are proud to announce the upcoming construction of a new hall at the White House. For 150 years, presidents, administrations, and staff have wished for a large space for major events… The White House currently cannot host such events without erecting a large and unattractive tent,” said Leavitt.

The new event hall will feature gold-accented interiors, reflecting the style of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida—frequently referred to by the former president as the “Winter White House.”

This project is just one of several changes Trump is making to the presidential residence. He has already privately funded the renovation of the Rose Garden, added two 24-meter flagpoles, and redecorated the Oval Office with golden furnishings.

Construction is expected to begin in September and, according to Leavitt, will be completed “well before the end of President Trump’s term.”
