Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Russia launched 500 drones and more than 40 missiles in a new airstrike against Ukraine.
In a Telegram post on Sunday morning, he confirmed that at least four people were killed as a result of the attack. According to him, the main targets were the capital Kyiv and the regions of Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, and Odesa.
Zelensky added that residential buildings and a rubber factory were also damaged:
“Civil infrastructure facilities, a rubber factory, and apartment buildings were all damaged in the brutal Russian strikes,” he wrote.
He further linked the attack to last week’s international developments:
“This vile assault came as a virtual culmination of the UN General Assembly week, and thus Russia is making its true position clear. Moscow wants to continue fighting and killing and deserves only the harshest pressure in the world. The Kremlin benefits from prolonging this war and terror as long as it has energy revenues and a shadow fleet. We will continue counterattacks to deprive Russia of these opportunities to profit and to impose diplomacy. Anyone who wants peace must support President Trump’s efforts and halt all Russian imports. The time for decisive action has come, and we rely on a strong response from the US, Europe, G7, and G20,” Zelensky wrote.
