Kosovo Customs authorities have seized more than £9,000 from a passenger at Prishtina International Airport “Adem Jashari”, after discovering that part of the money had been hidden inside the traveler’s socks, officials confirmed on Friday.

According to an official statement, customs officers conducted a routine inspection of a passenger and his luggage upon arrival. During the initial scanning and physical check, officers found £8,000 in undeclared cash concealed on the passenger’s body, in addition to another amount he was carrying openly.

Undeclared Cash Totals £9,300

In total, authorities discovered £9,300 in British pounds, which, based on the official exchange rate, equals €10,611.59.

Kosovo Customs stated that, in accordance with current legislation, the passenger was issued an administrative fine amounting to 25% of the undeclared sum, while the remaining funds were temporarily seized pending the completion of legal procedures.

The case has also been referred to the Investigations Sector for further processing, as authorities continue to enforce strict controls on undeclared currency movement.
