The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo has filed an indictment against B.T., accused of war crimes against the civilian population during the years 1998–1999.

According to the indictment, B.T., in his capacity as a guard at Pristina Prison and at a parallel detention facility in Lipjan, together with other guards, systematically abused Albanian detainees.

They are suspected of using various means to torture prisoners, including rubber batons, metal rods, kicks, and punches, causing bodily injuries and severe psychological abuse.

Furthermore, the defendant and his accomplices are alleged to have deprived detainees of food for days at a time and threatened them with death, creating a constant state of fear and anxiety.

The Special Prosecution emphasized that these actions constitute serious violations of domestic law, the laws and customs of war, the Geneva Conventions, and their Additional Protocols, which protect the civilian population during armed conflict.
