Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama departed for Rome on Wednesday to conduct an official visit to the Vatican, accompanied by his wife Linda Rama and an official delegation, following an invitation from Pope Leo XIV.
According to the agenda released by the Agency for Media and Information, Rama will visit the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican, where he will be formally received in the San Damaso Courtyard by the Prefect of the Papal Household and members of the Pontifical Household.
The reception will precede a private audience between Prime Minister Rama and Pope Leo XIV, scheduled to take place in the Papal Library of the Apostolic Palace.
Following the meeting, the delegation will continue its visit to St. Peter’s Basilica, including stops at several significant religious and historical sites such as the Stanza delle Lacrime, Cappella Paolina, Sala Reggia, the Sistine Chapel, and the altar of Saint John Paul II.
At the conclusion of their visit to the Vatican, Prime Minister Rama and his wife are expected to visit the tomb of Pope Francis, located at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, according to reports.
