The illegal wall built in northern Mitrovica, near the Iber Bridge, was permanently demolished on February 5, 2017.
It took just one hour for two excavators to tear down the wall that had been constructed in the northern part of the city.
The first official to arrive and observe the demolition works was the Head of the European Union Office in Kosovo at the time, Natalija Apostolova, who stated that this marked an important moment for Mitrovica and its citizens. She also declared that the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities would be formed “soon.”
The divisive wall had stood in that part of the city for two consecutive months before its removal.
