Member of Parliament from the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV), Andin Hoti, has stated that LVV has received a clear mandate from the citizens to form the government independently and that, in his view, discussions about governing coalitions at this stage are unjustified and contrary to the will expressed in the elections. According to him, the focus should not be on the interests or preferences of political parties, but on the decision made by the electorate.
“I believe the focus should not be on what political parties want, but on what decision the citizens have made,” Hoti said.
He emphasized that citizens have delivered a clear verdict by granting the Vetëvendosje Movement an absolute majority to govern without a coalition.
“The citizens have given a clear verdict, entrusting more than 51% to the Vetëvendosje Movement, without anticipating a governing coalition,” the LVV MP stressed.
Hoti assessed that any move toward coalition talks at this stage would be inconsistent with the electoral outcome and the expectations of the electorate.
“Any discussion about coalitions at this phase would be unfair to the expressed will of the citizens,” he stated.
According to Hoti, political agreements are necessary only in cases where a political entity fails to secure sufficient support to govern on its own, which, he argues, is not the case at present.
“Political agreements are necessary only when a political subject does not secure enough trust to govern independently. This is not the current situation. However, political communication, beyond formal political agreements, is always beneficial,” Hoti concluded.
