The Basic Court in Gjakova has imposed a security measure on 22 suspects accused of falsifying voting results from the December 28 elections. The court ordered the measure of mandatory reporting to a police station.
The court held three separate hearings on Friday evening and rejected the request of the Basic Prosecution Office for pre-trial detention.
In the prosecution’s request, it was stated that the 22 suspects, in their capacity as chairpersons and members of vote-counting commissions and acting under authorizations issued by the Central Election Commission (CEC), at the Municipal Counting Center in Gjakova—located at the “Shani Nushi” sports hall—unlawfully interfered in the voting process by falsifying election results, thereby undermining the integrity of the electoral process and the free will of voters.
“Pre-trial proceedings judge Drilon Haraçia assessed that the legal conditions for imposing detention were not met, and therefore ordered the measure of mandatory reporting to a police station,” the court’s announcement stated.
Under this decision, the defendants must report to a police station for a one-month period, from February 6, 2026 to March 5, 2026.
The parties have the right to appeal this decision to the Court of Appeal of Kosovo within the legal deadline.
