Tensions escalated early Sunday morning near the vehicle market in Prishtina after illegal vendors attempted to block the road in protest against restrictions preventing them from selling items other than vehicle parts.
According to reports, the Municipality of Prishtina, through the Capital City Inspectorate, launched a joint operation starting at 05:00, in cooperation with the Kosovo Police and inspectors from the Food and Veterinary Agency (AVUK). The operation targeted the vehicle market area and its surrounding spaces.
Authorities stated that the action was aimed at preventing the illegal occupation of public spaces and stopping the unauthorized sale of poultry, which has reportedly been taking place outside permitted regulations.
Several vendors, who were not allowed to sell goods at the market, expressed dissatisfaction, claiming they had traveled from different cities to participate in the weekly Sunday market. In response, they gathered in front of Kosovo Police officers as a form of protest.
The situation remains tense as officials continue efforts to enforce market regulations while vendors demand permission to conduct their business activities.
