New details have emerged regarding the ransom demands for the safe return of Nancy Guthrie, CNN reports. The alleged kidnapper or kidnappers have demanded $6 million and threatened Guthrie’s life if a 5 p.m. Monday deadline is not met, according to a ransom note sent to a television station.

The alleged ransom letters sent to KGUN and other media outlets demanded millions of dollars in Bitcoin in exchange for her return.

Nancy Guthrie’s children appealed for their mother’s return on social media, saying: “We will pay.”

Authorities said the decision to pay any alleged ransom ultimately rests with the Guthrie family.

“We are in communication with the family, and while we advise and recommend from a law enforcement perspective, any action taken regarding any ransom is ultimately decided by the family,” FBI Special Agent Heith Janke told reporters last week.

Officials are also investigating the authenticity of a second message sent to KOLD on Friday related to Nancy Guthrie. According to a media anchor, the note contained sensitive information and did not include a deadline.

No suspects have been named so far, as the search for Nancy Guthrie enters its eighth day.
