The US Assistant Secretary of State, James O’Brien, today held a meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti in Germany, from where he asked the head of the Government for urgent progress on the establishment of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority. The American ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, also participated in the meeting, which he called productive.
This was announced by Ambassador Hovenier himself, emphasizing that the US expects Kosovo and Serbia to fulfill their obligations within the Dialogue.
“Pleasure to join Assistant Secretary O’Brien in his productive meeting with Prime Minister Kurti. We expect that Kosovo and Serbia will fulfill all the obligations received within the Dialogue facilitated by the EU”, wrote Hovenier.
O’Brien emphasized that the US supports Kosovo’s path towards Euro-Atlantic integration.
“The USA supports Kosovo’s path towards Euro-Atlantic integration. Moving forward requires implementation of EU-brokered agreements, including urgent progress on the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities. Today I discussed the necessary positive steps with the Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti”, wrote O’Brien.
