Albanian-Kosovar astronomer Pranvera Hyseni represented Kosovo at the SEPA 2026 conference in the United States, an event bringing together professionals working in planetariums and science education.
Hyseni was invited to the Tellus Science Museum in Georgia, where she delivered the keynote address during the conference’s gala evening before an audience of planetarium professionals.
In her speech, Hyseni presented the journey of an idea that once seemed distant for Kosovo: establishing the country’s first planetarium and observatory.
The project, led by Hyseni through her work with Astronomy Outreach of Kosovo, has now become a reality in Shtime, creating a new space dedicated to astronomy education and outreach in Kosovo.
“To tell you how an idea that once seemed so far away for a place like Kosovo ended up becoming the first planetarium and observatory in the country. Honestly, there is no greater pride,” Hyseni wrote following her participation in the conference.
Through her work, Hyseni continues to promote Kosovo on the international astronomy stage, turning her passion for the universe into concrete educational opportunities and projects for younger generations.
Her participation at SEPA 2026 also highlights the growing role of science outreach in Kosovo and the efforts of local professionals to connect young people with astronomy and space science.
