The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo has held a meeting of the National Authority Against Human Trafficking to discuss institutional efforts to prevent and combat human trafficking.

According to a statement from the ministry, the meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister Viktor Buzhala, with a focus on strengthening inter-institutional coordination and implementing recommendations from the US State Department’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report.

Particular attention was given to strengthening investigations, prosecuting and convicting traffickers, and improving the identification and protection of victims.

Buzhala called on members of the National Authority to maintain their commitment and strengthen cooperation between institutions to ensure the implementation of recommendations and improve mechanisms for preventing human trafficking.

As October marks the campaign month against human trafficking, participants also emphasised the importance of expanding public awareness and information activities. These efforts aim to help citizens recognise suspected cases at an early stage and encourage them to report potential incidents.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said it would continue working with the relevant institutions and partners to prevent human trafficking and protect the rights and dignity of victims.
