Vetëvendosje leader Albin Kurti is set to hold separate meetings today with Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) leader Bedri Hamza and Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) leader Lumir Abdixhiku as part of consultations on the formation of Kosovo’s new institutions.

The meeting with Hamza is scheduled for 9:00 a.m., while the meeting with Abdixhiku will take place at 6:00 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the Assembly of Kosovo.

The meetings come after Kurti sent invitation letters to the leaders of the PDK, LDK, and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), a move confirmed by government spokesperson Fatlum Jashari. The invitations were issued one day after the certification of the June 7 parliamentary election results.

PDK leader Bedri Hamza confirmed that his party had accepted the invitation and is ready to participate in the meeting. He emphasized that discussions should focus first on the government’s program, national priorities, and the country’s key challenges rather than the distribution of political positions.

LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku also confirmed his attendance, stating that he will participate in good faith to hear Vetëvendosje’s proposals and contribute to avoiding new elections. He added that he also plans to meet with representatives of the PDK and AAK to better understand their positions.

Meanwhile, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) has declined the invitation. Its leader, Ardian Gjini, published the party’s official response to Kurti, stating that AAK sees no need for such a meeting and remains committed to the position it announced on June 26. According to the party, its support for the formation of new institutions remains conditional on the acceptance of the six-point proposal it previously presented.

According to the certified results of the June 7 parliamentary elections, Vetëvendosje won 47.13% of the vote, securing 53 seats in the Assembly. The Democratic Party of Kosovo received 19.44% and 22 seats, the Democratic League of Kosovo won 16.69% and 18 seats, while the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo secured 6.74% and seven seats. Non-majority communities hold a total of 20 seats in the Assembly.
