Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the new cabinet of ministers and directors of his country’s services.
The Kremlin said in a statement that Putin signed the relevant decrees, officially forming the new government.
The government consists of 10 deputy prime ministers and 21 federal ministers. Sixteen of the ministers were appointed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, while the ministers of defense, foreign affairs, interior, justice and emergency situations were appointed by Putin himself.
The Kremlin statement notably confirmed Andrey Belousov as the country’s new defense minister, replacing Sergey Shoygu who took the post in 2012 and has now been appointed secretary of the Russian Security Council.
Denis Manturov has been appointed first deputy prime minister, replacing Belousov, who took office in 2020.
In addition to the Ministry of Defense, the ministries of transport, trade and industry, energy, sports and agriculture had new ministers.
Meanwhile, the heads of the National Guard of Russia, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Federal Security Service and the Federal Defense Service were also reappointed.
