In a desperate attempt to control the narrative, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić appeared live on the regime-friendly TV Informer, launching a tirade against protesters who gathered in front of the National Assembly — citizens outraged by years of abuse, corruption, and police violence.

Rather than addressing the growing unrest and the legitimate anger of people supporting Dijana Hrka’s hunger strike, Vučić resorted to his usual tactic : insults, fearmongering, and blame-shifting. He accused citizens of “throwing bottles and torches” and trying “to set people on fire,” while conveniently ignoring documented videos of police brutality and the violent repression unleashed by his government.

Clearly shaken after what he called the “debacle in Novi Sad,” Vučić could not hide his frustration as massive crowds across Serbia demanded accountability for years of lies, greed, and state negligence. His comment that protesters “attacked the symbol of the existence of Serbia — Pioneer Park” revealed once again how Vučić equates his party’s power with the nation itself, as if the people of Serbia exist merely to protect his rule.

Under Vučić’s watch, citizens have been beaten, arrested, and silenced, while pro-government thugs have operated freely in front of the Parliament under police protection. The double standards were evident yet again: those who came to support Hrka were blocked and harassed, while SNS loyalists entered the restricted “Ćaciland” zone without resistance.

By declaring that “authorities are ready and will respond to everything that happens on the streets,” Vučić effectively threatened his own citizens, signaling a further escalation of state intimidation.

His live appearance was not a show of strength — it was a display of fear. Fear of a nation that is finally refusing to kneel. Fear of students, veterans, and ordinary people who no longer believe his propaganda.

Vučić may try to twist the truth through his media machinery, but the message from the streets is clear: the people of Serbia are done being ruled through lies, intimidation, and deceit.
