The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC) has suspended prosecutor Arlinda Nallbani-Gacaferri from her official duties and initiated disciplinary proceedings against her, according to a decision taken at an extraordinary meeting on Thursday.

Sources cited by Betimi për Drejtësi said the decision followed a recommendation by State Chief Prosecutor Zejnullah Gashi. At the same meeting, the Council also suspended Lumturije Vuçetaj, Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution Office in Peja.

Investigative panels have been established for both prosecutors as part of the proceedings.

Nallbani-Gacaferri was the prosecutor assigned to the case of Arlinda Zekaj, who was killed on October 25, 2025. Zekaj had also served as a coordinator for domestic violence cases.

The Council’s decision was taken during an extraordinary meeting chaired by its head, Arian Gashi.

The suspensions come following Zekaj’s killing and reports that she had repeatedly sought state protection amid a dispute over custody of her son.

The disciplinary proceedings are separate from any determination of individual responsibility. The Council’s decision does not, by itself, establish misconduct by either prosecutor.
