The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) marked its 25th anniversary with a solemn event, during which party leaders reflected on the party’s legacy of freedom and economic development. The anniversary was marked by sharp criticism directed at Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s administration.

AAK President, Ramush Haradinaj, emphasized that the party was founded in the spirit of freedom, grew with that freedom, and has always acted in service of Kosovo’s peace and sovereignty. Haradinaj also underscored the party’s role in Kosovo’s economic recovery, promising continued support for economic growth.

However, it was AAK Vice President Ardian Gjini who took a direct aim at Kurti’s government. In his speech, Gjini criticized the administration’s policies, specifically referencing Kosovo’s diplomatic setbacks and the economic challenges faced under Kurti’s leadership.

“Who would have thought 25 years ago that a government would come to power that would place Kosovo under sanctions? Who would have believed that instead of advancing, Kosovo would start to see its economy degrade?” said Gjini, pointing out the European Union sanctions imposed on Kosovo and the apparent economic decline during Kurti’s tenure.

The AAK, in its recent electoral coalition with the Social Democratic Initiative (Nisma) of Fatmir Limaj, secured eight seats in the new Assembly. However, due to ongoing political gridlock, the Assembly has yet to be fully constituted, complicating the formation of a stable government.

The 25-year milestone marks a period of significant challenges for the party, as it continues to oppose Kurti’s policies while striving to remain a key player in Kosovo’s political landscape.
