Today, the Kosovo Police marks its 26th anniversary since its establishment.
On September 6, 1999, the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1244, opened the Police School and began training candidates for the Kosovo Police.
The first generation of recruits started training on September 6, 1999. This inaugural class included 176 candidates, who successfully completed their training and went on to serve as the first police officers of the newly formed institution, operating across the entire territory of Kosovo.
