Serbia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has strongly condemned an attack on police officers that took place on Sunday evening in Lazarevac, leaving two officers injured.
“During the incident, a group of individuals physically attacked police officers using stones, pyrotechnic devices and other dangerous objects,” the ministry said in a statement.
The Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs, in cooperation with the competent prosecutor’s office, is taking all necessary legal measures to identify and arrest everyone involved in the attack, according to the statement.
The ministry also called on all citizens to refrain from any form of violence or aggression, particularly attacks against police officers, stressing the importance of ensuring that the electoral process proceeds peacefully, safely and in accordance with the law.
