The Judicial Council of Kosovo (KGJK) has suspended Naime Krasniqi-Jashanica, a judge at the Basic Court in Pristina, following her involvement in a scandal related to audio recordings in a domestic violence case.
KGJK announced the establishment of a disciplinary investigation panel to examine the case.
“After reviewing and analyzing the disciplinary case, the Council has established the investigative panel and, by unanimous vote, decided to suspend the subject of the investigation until further notice,” the Council stated on Tuesday.
The Council noted that the suspension will allow the panel to conduct a fully independent, objective, and impartial investigation.
Krasniqi-Jashanica was involved in the scandal alongside retired prosecutor Edina Jupolli. The audio recordings reportedly capture the judge and prosecutor discussing a domestic violence defendant, using offensive language and showing disrespect towards the victim involved in the case.
This suspension marks a significant step in addressing judicial misconduct and ensuring accountability within Kosovo’s justice system.
