A serious violent incident occurred on Friday morning at a high school in the Murska Sobota area of Slovenia, where a first-year student attacked and stabbed a fourth-year female student, local authorities confirmed.

According to initial information reported by Slovenian media outlet 24ur, the attacker encountered the victim in a school corridor, where he allegedly stabbed her in the face and back. After the assault, the suspect fled the school building toward a nearby home for the elderly and people with disabilities.

The school immediately activated its security protocol, placing students and staff in lockdown inside classrooms to prevent further danger. Police launched an intensive search operation and quickly located and arrested the suspect, neutralizing the immediate threat.

The injured student received emergency medical assistance, and school officials confirmed that her condition is being treated by medical professionals.

Meanwhile, the Murska Sobota Police Department has launched a full investigation to determine the motive behind the attack. School authorities also announced that psychological support will be provided to students and staff who witnessed or were affected by the incident.

The school director stated that the situation is now fully under control.
