Another violent incident has occurred on the day of Serbia’s parliamentary elections.
The incident took place on Dušanova Street in Belgrade’s Dorćol neighbourhood, near the Cezar pizzeria, a location that has attracted attention during the election period. The establishment’s owner was reportedly involved in the confrontation.
Witnesses said a woman was injured during a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical altercation at around 2:00 p.m. She was reportedly taken to hospital by ambulance.
Those involved were reportedly dissatisfied with activities allegedly taking place inside the pizzeria. They attempted to film the owner, triggering a confrontation in which the owner also took part.
Traffic police vehicles are currently at the scene, while intervention units have been dispatched from the headquarters of the Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) in response to the incident.
At this stage, it remains unclear whether the injured woman is a local resident or a member of one of the teams involved.
During the previous election cycle, opposition activists raised allegations that the pizzeria was being used to maintain “parallel” voter lists.
