Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared in his New Year message that Turkey will not tolerate the use of force, piracy, or any provocations that threaten its maritime interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.
President Erdogan emphasized that Ankara is closely monitoring threats to what he referred to as its “Blue Homeland” — the term for Turkey’s maritime boundaries — as well as the rights of Turkish Cypriots.
“We will never tolerate the use of force, piracy, or plunder in our seas,” Erdogan stated.
The President also reflected on domestic and international developments over the past year, highlighting Turkey’s counter-terrorism efforts, increased economic and social aid, and progress in key sectors such as tourism and defense industries.
Addressing regional issues, Erdogan reaffirmed Turkey’s support for communities beyond its borders, specifically noting policies toward Syria and Gaza, and stressed that Ankara will not remain silent until those responsible for the deaths of thousands of Palestinians are held accountable.
