NEW YORK – The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, in the report published this Thursday, expressed his additions to the stalling of the Brussels dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

UN Chief Guterres has strongly condemned the serious security incident on September 24 in Banjska, which led to the tragic killing of the officer from Kosovo, and calls on the Belgrade regime to complete the investigations and bring the Serbian terrorists to justice without delay. announces the Swiss newspaper in Albanian Le Canton27.ch.

“Despite some progress in the implementation of the agreements reached with the mediation of the EU, tensions between Belgrade and Prishtina have increased and the security situation in the north of Kosovo remains fragile…”, says the UN report which will discussed on April 22 in the UN Security Council.

The General Secretary emphasizes that the decree of the central bank in Prishtina, which from February 1 designates the euro as the sole currency for cash transactions, “further complicated the relations between the parties”.

He called for an urgent discussion on open issues within the EU-mediated dialogue, to ensure that the rights of all affected communities and the most vulnerable groups are protected.

Guterres called on the parties to reaffirm their commitment to the EU-mediated dialogue and fully implement existing agreements.

The Secretary General of the UN has also mentioned the petition for the dismissal of the mayors in four municipalities in the north of Kosovo, who has underlined that “the local elections in this part of Kosovo are important, with the participation of the Kosovo Serbs, to reduce tensions and move forward”.

The head of the UN has also praised the decision of the Government of Kosovo, welcoming the decision of the Constitutional Court on the property of the Monastery of Deçan, evaluating it as a step towards strengthening trust in all communities.

Furthermore, the UN report states that the Mission’s priorities remain the promotion of security, stability and respect for human rights in Kosovo and the region, and that in achieving its goals, UNMIK continues the constructive engagement between Kosovo and Serbia, all communities in the Republic of Kosovo and with international actors.
