Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has departed for Moscow, following a controversial trip to the United States that has stirred debate in Serbian political circles.
According to Russian outlet Sputnik and Danas.rs, Vučić’s plane departed at 09:30 this morning en route to Baku, Azerbaijan, with Moscow as its final destination. He is expected to arrive in the Russian capital around 17:00.
Earlier today, Vučić posted photos on Instagram of meetings with Russian Ambassador Aleksandr Bocan-Kharchenko and British Ambassador Edward Ferguson, signaling diplomatic preparations for his visit to Russia.
Meanwhile, Miloš Vučević, head of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), stated that Vučić is expected to address the public “in the late afternoon or evening,” leaving the location of the speech undisclosed. “We’ll see where he chooses to speak from,” Vučević added, further fueling speculation.
This will be Vučić’s first public appearance since his return from the U.S. on May 3, a trip clouded by rumors and alleged incidents.
Media reports and analysts claim Vučić encountered a confrontation during an attempt to access former President Donald Trump’s residence at Mar-a-Lago, Florida. Former diplomat Nebojša Vujović alleged that Vučić was ejected by Trump’s chief of staff, sparking renewed speculation over the Serbian president’s health and diplomatic standing.
Adding to the intrigue, Aleksandar Jovičić of the organization “Serbs for Trump” claimed via social media that Vučić attempted to attend a Republican Party event using the name “Aleks Vuci.”
