Iranian state and state-affiliated media report that the Bushehr nuclear power plant was targeted during Wednesday’s attacks.
According to a statement carried by Iranian state media and attributed to the deputy governor of the province, the perimeter of the Bushehr nuclear facility was struck by projectiles launched by the United States.
So far, the United States has not commented on the claims.
If confirmed, a strike near the Bushehr nuclear power plant would mark one of the most serious developments in the conflict, with potentially significant consequences for regional and international security.
Experts warn that an attack on a nuclear facility could result in the release of radioactive material into the environment. Such a scenario in the Persian Gulf would pose a major risk to neighboring Arab countries.
The Bushehr nuclear power plant was built with Russian assistance and is considered one of Iran’s most strategically important nuclear facilities.
Meanwhile, hostilities have continued on other fronts. Jordan’s Armed Forces announced through the state news agency Petra that its air defense systems intercepted eight missiles launched from Iran.
According to Jordanian authorities, missile debris fell in several locations, but no casualties or material damage have been reported.
The United States, which maintains a military base in Jordan, has not yet commented on the incident.
However, the U.S. Embassy in Jordan urged American citizens to seek shelter, stating that “reports indicate that missiles, drones, or projectiles are currently in Jordanian airspace.”
The embassy said it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
