A Russian drone attack on a residential building in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy has resulted in the deaths of four people, with nine others injured. Ukrainian emergency services continue to remove debris and conduct rescue operations at the site.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the deaths and injuries, calling the attack a “horrible tragedy” and a “terrible Russian crime.” He urged the international community to maintain pressure on Russia regarding such attacks.
According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, specialized equipment is being used to dismantle damaged structures and remove large concrete slabs. Among the wounded are a 7-year-old child and an 18-year-old young man, all of whom have been hospitalized.
Regional head of Sumy, Volodymyr Artuk, stated on Telegram that emergency services are extracting residents from parts of the building that were damaged in the attack. Ukrainian media reported that the drones used in the attack were Shahed drones.
